
About Us
In July of 2003, the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission awarded Action Community Development of Boston (ABCD) a grant to develop and administer an Independent Living Center. With these funds, The Multi-Cultural Independent Living Center of Boston, Inc. (MILCB) was established.
MILCB is a consumer oriented, community-based organization that provides independent living services to eligible individuals, of all ages, with significant disabilities and their families. MILCB promotes self-pride, independent decision-making, self-determination, equal access and self-help.
MILCB provides our core services of Information & Referral, Independent Skills Training, Advocacy, Peer Mentoring, and Deinstitutionalization in the communities of Dorchester, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, Roslindale, Roxbury and W. Roxbury.
The Multi-Cultural Independent Living Center of Boston, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that receives funding from Federal, State and Private Sources.
What can we do for YOU?
- Programs offered by the MILCB empower people with disabilities to not only avoid institutionalization, but also to live, work and participate in their communities to the best of their ability.
- We, create opportunities for self-determination and we empower our consumers by providing critical information that enhances their ability to live independently within their households and community environments
